Preparation

Installation

Installing the transformation pack is quite simple and involves very few steps. First, you need to extract the setup file from the ZIP archive before double-clicking it to start the installation process. Once it has installed all of the pre-requisite applications such as the .NET Framework, you can select the type of installation you want. You can choose to keep or leave out multiple features before you click Install to begin the final installation.

As the transformation pack begins to install, you need to be patient because this can take quite some time. Occasionally, the install will appear stuck or nonresponsive, but this is normal and will eventually fix itself. If the install completes successfully, it will prompt you to reboot. At this point, the transformation pack will take effect and you'll be able to get a feel for Windows 8.

Visual Changes

If you use Vista or Windows 7, the changes the transformation pack makes will be largely superficial. It will give you a Metro-like user interface complete with the various gadgets that make up the attracting aspects of the new operating system. XP users will experience the most radical changes because it will revamp the entire Windows interface.

Uninstalling

The best part about the transformation pack is that you don't have to keep the changes. If you just want to see what it would be like to use Windows 8, you aren't committed to keeping the changes as you would be if you had installed a full copy of Windows 8. With the transformation pack, you need only rerun the setup executable to remove the changes made to your operating system. It won't damage any of your system files or delete any of your personal data, though there would be slight chance otherwise.
